The 17th edition of the Indian Premier Legaue (IPL) is all set to kickstart on March 22. The Chairman of the Indian Premier League Arun Singh Dhumal confirmed it to a leading sports portal. “The league will kick off on March 22 in Chennai,” informed IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal.
The opening match of the 17th edition of the league will be played between Chennai Super Kings & Royal Challengers Bangalore at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 22. the BCCI has unveiled a partial schedule for the league, which is from March 22 to April 7. This move was undertaken in the wake of the upcoming general elections with the latter half of the schedule to be announced after the Election Commission of India announces the dates of elections.

As the anticipation builds up, here’s a sneak peek into the initial encounters:
March 22: CSK vs RCB in Chennai
March 23: PBKS vs DC in Mullanpur, KKR vs SRH in Kolkata
March 24: RR vs LSG in Jaipur, GT vs MI in Ahmedabad
March 25: RCB vs PBKS in Bengaluru
The cricketing bonanza will be at its peak when four doubleheaders including two on the opening weekend will be played. Punjab Kings & Kolkata Knight Riders will play the daytime fixture on March 23 while Rajasthan Royals & Mumbai Indians will play the evening fixture.
Coming to the number of matches the franchisees will play during the announced window. Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans & RCB will play five matches within this window. While KKR finds themselves with just three matches in their kitty.
