Inter Milan vs Verona: Preview
Inter Milan form analysis
Internazionale have found strong form over the festive period. After a slow start, Inter earned an emphatic 3-0 away victory over league leaders Napoli on December 4th to ignite their season. Çalhanoğlu, Barella and inform striker M. Thuram were all on target. Inter built on this with a dominant 4-0 home thrashing of Udinese on December 10th, scoring all goals in the first half through Çalhanoğlu, Dimarco and another Thuram strike. Inter extended their winning run by beating Lazio 0-2 away from home on December 18th courtesy of goals from Lautaro Martínez and Thuram.
They made it four straight wins against struggling Lecce on December 23rd, earning a professional 2-0 victory with goals from new signing Bisseck and Barella. The winter break halted momentum slightly as Inter were held 1-1 away at Genoa, but they still sit third and look revitalized. Overall, Inter have rebounded strongly after early season struggles. With new personnel settled and the coach’s tactics clicking, Inter seem primed to push the league leaders until the end in an intriguing title race. Sustaining this form is critical with matches against Milan and Atalanta looming.
Verona form analysis
Verona’s recent league form has shown signs of improvement despite inconsistencies. After clawing back a thrilling 3-3 home draw with Udinese on December 3rd, Verona earned a creditable 1-1 draw at home against Lazio a week later. Striker T. Henry bagged his a goal to claim Verona a point. However, Verona then suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat away at Fiorentina on December 17th in a tight encounter settled by L. Beltrán’s strike. Verona rebounded well by beating struggling Cagliari 2-0 at home on December 23rd courtesy of goals from the impressive Ngonge and striker M. Đurić.
But the winter break stalled momentum as Verona opened 2024 with a disappointing 0-1 home loss to relegation rivals Salernitana, undone by a Tchaouna goal. Overall, Verona has shown spirit to battle back in games but lacks ruthlessness to turn one point into three on several occasions. Addressing chance conversion rates and defensive focus seem priorities for the manager to steer Verona away from the drop zone in the second half of the campaign. More goals and clean sheets are required quickly for the Gialloblu to avoid being dragged into a tense survival fight.
