Inter Milan vs Juventus: Preview
Inter Milan form analysis
Inter Milan’s recent form has showcased an elite defense and moments of individual attacking brilliance that have translated into positive results. On December 23rd Inter earned a solid 2-0 home win against Lecce thanks to goals from defender Yannik Bisseck and midfielder Nicolo Barella. Inter’s quality at the back shone again on January 6th during a hard fought 2-1 away win at Verona despite the late comeback attempt.
Inter’s backbone provided the foundation for an dominant 5-1 thrashing of Monza on January 14th, led by a Hakan Calhanoglu brace and hat trick for red-hot marksman Lautaro Martinez. Most recently on January 29th, Inter returned to defensive solidity in grinding out a 1-0 away win at Fiorentina thanks to yet another moment of magic from Martinez. While chance creation and midfield control still lacks at times, the manager Simone has constructed an efficient counterattacking unit built on the chemistry between creative forces. Maintaining defensive stability and the Argentinian’s form could decide Inter’s Serie A fortunes.
Juventus form analysis
Juventus’ recent form has showcased an elite defense and heavy reliance on striker Dusan Vlahovic to provide moments of brilliance in attack. On December 31st, Juve edged past top four rivals Roma 1-0 thanks to Adrien Rabiot’s strike. Defensive quality shone again on January 7th, grinding out a 2-1 away win at struggling Salernitana with Vlahovic netting a 90th minute winner after Samuel Iling-Junior equalized.
Vlahovic was at it again on January 17th, netting twice in a comfortable 3-0 thrashing of Sassuolo. The Serbian hitman bagged another brace four days later during a 3-0 demolition of Lecce. Most recently on January 27th, Vlahovic scored yet again to salvage a 1-1 home draw with Empoli. Signing an elite attacking midfielder could take Juventus back to the Serie A summit.
