As Bangalore put up a strong effort to chase down the target, the Delhi Capitals women’s team faced off against Royal Challengers Bangalore, posting a total of 181 runs in the game’s opening innings. Sophie Molineux scored 33 runs in the run chase after Smriti Mandhana left for five runs.
In addition, Richa Ghosh scored 51 runs but was unable to lead her team to victory as the Delhi Capitals won the match by a run. Ellyse Perry scored 49 runs in 32 deliveries.
Bangalore captain Smriti Mandhana discussed the match after it had concluded, saying that although it could have gone either way, the Caps played well under duress. Furthermore, Mandhana acknowledged that the game, which ended up being a see-saw battle, could have gone either way.
Mandhana remarked, “In the WPL and in international cricket, we have seen a lot of Richa. Perry was playing well when she was unfortunately run out. The final ball of the match could have gone either way, so it was good for Delhi to maintain composure and win. We are not a bad team because of one run. Good job limiting them to 180 with the shorter boundary. We genuinely thought we could find a solution to this. Would advise the girls to hold their heads high and return the next day even stronger.”
