Soon after, the joy was enlivened when Indian women’s crricket team added another gold medal India’s Asian Games 2023 campaign.
Rudranksh Patil, Aishwary Tomar, and Divyansh Panwar emerged victorious in the 10-meter Air Rifle Team competition. India not only secured a gold medal but also set a new world record in Asian Games, surpassing the previous record set by China’s male athletes just last month.
Ramita Jindal achieved notable success in the 10m air rifle competition at the current Asian Games, earning herself two medals. The accomplished Indian shooter expressed her happiness at attaining this double victory and is eagerly looking forward to competing for a gold medal in the mixed-team event.
Ramita secured the bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle individual event at the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. Her final score of 230.1 rightfully earned her a place on the podium.
In the women’s 10m air rifle team competition, the Indian women’s shooting squad, consisting of Ramita, Ashi Chouksey, and Mehuli Ghosh, secured the second position.
Their combined score of 1886.0 earned them the coveted silver medal, signifying India’s inaugural medal accomplishment in this edition of the Games. It’s worth noting that the gold medal was clinched by the formidable Chinese team.
On the other hand, it was a historical day for Bangladesh who celebrated their first Asian Games medal since 2014. Bangladesh women’s cricket team achieved a historic milestone by defeating Pakistan in the bronze medal match. This victory marked Bangladesh’s first Asian Games medal since 2014 when the Games were held in Incheon, South Korea
This significant sporting event in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou has attracted a vast gathering of 12,400 athletes representing 45 nations. These athletes are vying for a total of 481 gold medals across a diverse range of 40 sports. It’s worth noting that these Games were postponed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their outstanding performance on the field limited Pakistan to a score of 64 for nine after the allotted 20 overs. Bangladesh successfully chased down this target, winning the match in 18.2 overs.
