India Slates Highest Ever Ranking Since 1962 In Asian Game
India’s best-ever performance at the Asian Games took place in Delhi in 1951, the first-ever Asian Games, where the hosts came in second with a total of 51 medals, including 15 gold.
With 33 medals, including 10 gold, India placed third overall at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta. India won 70 medals at the 2018 Jakarta Games, which was their most ever; however, the Indian team on Tuesday in Hangzhou won more medals.
Even though they have the best medal total in the history of the Asian Games for their country with 81 medals, the Indian team is still in a good position to achieve their highest placing if they can maintain the fourth position with four days left.
India’s haul of 18 gold medals at the Asian Games is the most ever for the country, and many more are anticipated over the next four days.
