Pakistan’s loss to Australia in the first Test helped India to make a positive gain in the WTC 2023-2025 Points Table. Pakistan displayed a poor batting show in the second innings of the first Test after getting bowled for just 89 runs & losing the fixture by 360 runs at Perth. The tragic loss helped Australia to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Pakistan will have to think a lot to improve their performance in the second Test because their loss in the first Test has cost them their first place in the WTC 2023 Points Table.
Pakistan had begun their Test tour being the no 1 side in the WTC 2021-2023 rankings. But they lost their No 1 position after suffering a massive defeat at the hands of Australia in the first Test. Pakistan has slipped to the second spot after a huge loss in the first Test which helped the second-placed India to regain top spot in the WTC 2023-2025 P{oints Tbale.
Both India & Pakistan enjoy a winning percentage of 66.67. India has 16 Points in their kitty while Pakistan has 24 Points after two wins. But their loss to Australia meant they lost their number-one position. Australia is lying fifth on the Points Table with three wins & two losses & two draws. On the other hand, Black Caps are placed third & Bangladesh fourth on the Points standings.
Can Pakistan march at the No. 1 spot on the WTC 2023-2025 Points Table?

It won’t be an easy task for Pakistan to regain the top spot in the WTC 2023-202r standings. They have just two Tests left to be played against Australia & there are chances Aussies will overpower them in the rest of two Tests as well. Pakistan have a long break before they feature in the second Test at MCG. Head coach Mohammad Hafeez and captain Masood will be required to rethink their strategy ahead of the Boxing Day Test.
Coming to the hosts it’s an opportunity for them to improve their position on the WTC 2023-2025 Points table. On the other hand, table toppers India will begin their two-match Test series against South Africa on December 26 & will try to strengthen their position on the top. If India managed to beat all the odds and beat South Africa in one of the Tests then they could easily retain their position at the top. At the end of the WTC 2023-2025 cycle, the top two teams of the Points table will qualify for the finals. India is the only team that has qualified for the finals of both editions but failed to win the trophy. They will aim to rewrite their fortune by qualifying & winning the WTC 2023-2025 final.
