IND vs SA: India’s batting stalwart, Ajinkya Rahane posted a cryptic tweet following India’s humiliating loss against South Africa in the first Test match. Rahane is no longer in India’s scheme of things in Test Cricket and after witnessing India’s dismal show with the bat in the recently concluded first Test match against South Africa, Rahane shared a video of him practising.
He captioned the post as: ‘No Rest Days’
Rahane’s post drew attention from the netizens as he uploaded his video of India’s horrendous show with the bat in the first Test against South Africa. Although, it’s not necessary that his post was a dig at Indian selectors for not picking him in the squad.
Indian batter showed a different side of him in the IPL 2023 while playing for Chennai Super Kings. He unveiled his 2.0 version while batting at an astounding strike rate of 172.49.
Rahane scored 326 runs in 14 matches playing in the middle order for the franchise and has been retained for the upcoming season as well. Rahane was part of India’s team in the WTC final match against Australia this year. He made his presence felt with the scores of 89 and 46.
However, in his last Test series against West Indies in July, the CSK batter could only manage scores of 3 and 8. The team management is looking to give chances to the young crop of batters and it’s unlikely that he will get a chance to feature in India’s Test team in the future.
Indian Batting Dismal In IND vs SA 1st Test
Meanwhile, the Indian team would be pretty disappointed with their performance in the first Test match against South Africa. Against a lethal pace attack of South Africa, India’s batting looked clueless. They struggled to play in the seaming conditions on offer.
The bowlers too looked ineffective as they couldn’t draw similar purchase that the South African pace-attack extracted from the surface. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were the only batter who looked good with the former playing as the lone warrior during India’s second innings.
He played a sensational knock of 76 runs in 82 balls. KL Rahul, on the other hand, scored a century in India’s first innings. These were the only positives India could think of. Prasidh Krishna, who made his Test debut in Centurion, had a forgettable outing. He couldn’t pick a single wicket while giving away 93 runs in 20 overs.
in the latest update, Indian seamer Avesh Khan has been added to the Test squad ahead of the second and final Test match as a replacement for Shami, who was ruled out of the series due to injury. The second Test match is slated to be played from 3rd to 7th January 2024 at Newlands, Cape Town.
