Indian Captain was in his best mood during Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test. During the 26th over of England’s innings, Rohit was seen consulting on-field umpire Marais Erasmus whether he should take a review or not.
The incident was of the last ball of Jasprit Bumrah’s over when a perfect yorker hit Bairstow’s pads. The entire Indian team went for an appeal but the on-field umpire Erasmus didn’t raise his finger. Hence, the Indian skipper began consulting with the wicketkeeper KS Bharat and Bumrah about whether they should go for a review or not. While consulting with his players, he even hilariously asked the umpire saying “Marais, what do you think?.”

Coming to the fixture Indian team added 60 runs to their Day 1 score of 336 runs to end the first innings on 396. It was Jaiswal’s blistering 209 runs off 290 balls that helped India to end their first innings on a high note. Registering his maiden double ton Jaiswal also became the third youngest Indian to register double ton in the Test. He achieved the feat in just 21 years.
After Jaiswal’s exploits with the bat, it was the done of Bumrah to outclass England with his reverse swing masterclass. It was Bumrah’s lethal yorkers that helped him to rattle England’s lineup registering his life’s best figures.
Bumrah returned with stellar figures of 6-45 in 15.5 overs getting the prized wickets of Joe Root (5 off 10), Ollie Pope (23 off 55), Jonny Bairstow (25 off 39), Ben Stokes (47 off 54), Tom Hartley (21 off 24) and James Anderson (6 off 19). His delivery to Pope became the highlight of the day as he rattled the in-set batters’ stumps with an in-swinging yorker delivery. Thanks to Bumrah’s on-point bowling three Lions were bundled for a score of 253 runs with Crawley top-scoring with 76 runs. India then began their second innings & ended day one at 28-0 without any loss of wickets. They are currently leading England by 171 runs & both the Indian openers will aim to extend this lead on Day 3.
