IND vs ENG 2nd Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal has registered his second 150-plus score in Test format in India’s ongoing second Test against England at the DR Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The left-handed batter was at his absolute best with the willow & went on to score an unbeaten 179 runs off 257 balls guiding India to a decent total of 366 runs at Stumps on Day 1.
Coming to the fixture, India won the toss & opted to bat first. Rohit gave away his wicket early but Jaiswal was determined & reached his half-century in 89 balls. Wickets fell at the other end but Jaiswal was going strong on one end. The onus was on Jaiswal to revive India’s innings & he did that by staying unbeaten on the crease.
Jaiswal along with Shreyas Iyer amassed 90 runs for the third wicket. Jaiswal was going strong & scored his second ton in just 151 balls. In the third session of the day, Jaiswal brought up his 150 off 224 balls.
In the Hyderabad Test which India lost by 28 runs, Jaiswal was one of the integral contributors in India’s innings as he scored 80 runs off 74 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes in the first innings. He might be upset for not scoring his century but he overcame that by scoring a ton in the second Test.
When did Yashasvi Jaiswal score his maiden Test Ton?

In July 2023, Jaiswal made his Test debut against West Indies at Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica. And right on his Debut Test Jaiswal turned the heads around by registering his maiden Test ton. He scored 171 runs off 387 balls with 16 fours & a six helping India to win the match by an innings & 141 runs. He also won the Player of the Match to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

The eagerly awaited IND vs ENG 2nd Test witnessed the introduction of fresh talents to both squads. Rohit Sharma presented the Test cap to Rajat Patidar, while England granted a debut to Shoaib Bashir. During India’s initial batting, they faced a setback as Rohit Sharma departed in the 18th over after contributing 14 runs from 41 balls. Subsequently, Shubman Gill (34 off 46) and Shreyas Iyer (27 off 59) succumbed to Tom Hartley’s deliveries. Meanwhile, Rehan Ahmed concluded Patidar’s innings as the latter nicked onto the stumps, and KS Bharat fell for 17 off 23 to the leg-spinner.
Opener Yashasvi took the spotlight amid the challenges, crafting a remarkable century. The left-handed batsman remained undefeated, amassing 179 runs from 257 balls, adorned with five sixes and 17 fours. Thanks to Jaiswal’s brilliant century, India concluded Day 1 at 366-6, with Jaiswal and R Ashwin standing firm at the crease. The pair is set to resume India’s innings on Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test.
