Rajat Patidar who made his Test debut at the age of 30 in the IND vs ENG 2nd Test opened up on his Test debut which came after a long period. It’s only at the age of 30 that Patidar got his much-awaited maiden Test Cap. He has so far featured in 58 matches in List A format amassing 1985 runs at an average of 36.09. After Day 1 of the second Test Patidar hilariously highlighted the fact that players have to wait for long to make their national debut as India has a lot of talented players
“Waiting for so long is common in Indian cricket. There are a lot of players. I was just focusing on things that were in my hands. So at the age of 30, I came here, feeling pretty good,” Patidar said in the post-day press conference.
How Rajat Patidar Performed in His Debut Test?

In his debut Test, Patidar amassed 32 runs off 72 balls in an innings braced with three fours. He couldn’t convert his start into a big score as he ended up losing his wicket to Rehan Ahmed but Patidar didn’t let the dismissal affect his dream moment.
“It was a dream come true moment for me because representing the country is always a dream for every player. So it was the happiest moment for me. Going on to the crease it was nothing like pressure on me because I have played a lot of games, a lot of domestic games on this track so it was normal for me,” Patidar said.
Talking about the fixture, England made some amends by grabbing regular wickets but Jaiswal’s gutsy knock of unbeaten 179 helepd India to end their Day on a high note.
The way Jaiswal timed his shot & tore apart England’s lethal bowling attack was commendable. Wickets were falling at one end but Jaiswal was going strong at the other by scoring at a brisk rate. As a result he ended Day 1 unbeaten at 179 with a total of 17 fours & five Sixes. He will resume India’s innings on Day 2 along with his partner R Ashwin.
