IND vs ENG 2024: Indian selectors are all set to announce the squad for the remaining three Tests against England. And there are still doubts over the availability of Virat Kohli who has already missed the initial two Tests. Even the squad for the second Test changed with KL Rahul & Ravindra Jadeja being ruled out of the Test due to their respective injuries. Sarfaraz Khan then received his maiden call-up while Saurabh Kumar was named in the squad too.

As per a BCCI source, the board is still not aware of the availability of Virat Kohli for the remaining three Tests. He was quoted as saying that we have not heard anything about the return of Virat Kohli. Rumors are floating on social media that he is missing the Test series due to the ill health of his mother. But Virat didn’t make any Official Statement on this matter. When BCCI announced Kohli’s unavailability from the first two Tests they even didn’t reveal the reason behind his absence. BCCI had also requested fans to not speculate on the reason for his absence.
India began the series on a bad note losing the match from a winning position. With a 0-1 lead, they would have Kohli in the lineup but that’s not the case as his availability is still a big question mark. The crisis worsens when injuries hit the key players in the faces of Rahul & Jadeja. India cannot afford to have an inexperienced middle order looking at the strength & capabilities of the bazball team.

Coming to Virat Kohli it’s predicted that he has taken an emergency leave due to his mother’s illness. Coming to Virat he has always taken leaves only due to personal emergencies or workload issues. Earlier in 2021 tour of Australia Virat took a break because they were expecting their first child. After that Kohli took a break from cricket after IPL 2022 as he was down with mental health and did not want to pick up a bat. This break productively helped Kohli as he was able to pick up the bat & play freely which was missing for the past two years.
He emerged with flying colors after that break & performed exceptionally in the Asia Cup 2023 breaking all the barriers & ending his century drought. India again needs the service of their star batter who has to come back & handle the middle order which looks fragile with KL Rahul & Ravindra Jadeja’s absence.
