The Babar Azam-led team is experiencing a nightmare at the present ODI World Cup as they have lost three of their opening five games. They appear to have little chance of making it to the semi-finals as they are about to lose. Many former cricket players are criticizing skipper Babar harshly for the team’s dismal performance. Numerous individuals have proposed that the 29-year-old hitter be relieved of his captaincy. Imad Wasim, an all-rounder for Pakistan, asserted that Babar can still win the World Cup and win everyone’s forgiveness. Scroll down to read Imad Wasim On Babar Azam Facing Criticism.
Imad Wasim On Babar Azam Facing Criticism
Speaking on Pakistan’s TV program “Haarna Mana Hai,” a fan brought up a comment made by Mohammad Hafeez, stating that Babar ought to give Imad an apology. A fan inquired about Imad’s thoughts on Hafeez’s statements. Nevertheless, the fan’s usage of the quote was not authentic.
“If Babar Azam wins us the World Cup, the entire nation will forgive him,” Imad responded. It’s only about winning the tournament, not about pleading with me for forgiveness,” Imad Wasim stated.
Earlier, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam said, “We are hurt,” after his team’s ambitions of making the semi-finals at the World Cup were dashed by Afghanistan’s eight-wicket victory on Monday.
Afghanistan chased down a 283-run goal with one over remaining, and they won their first-ever one-day match against Pakistan after eight attempts.
After five games, Azam’s club has suffered three losses and two victories. “We are hurt as a team,” he stated.
They face a formidable South Africa at the same Chennai venue on Friday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Azam led Pakistan to 282-7 with 74 off 95 balls, supported by 58 from opener Abdullah Shafique. “We must feel the disappointment and my message to my team for the remaining matches will be to learn from this defeat,” Azam said.
“We were not up to the mark in bowling and fielding, but we achieved what we set out to do when we batted. We failed to put them under pressure but I congratulate Afghanistan for this victory,” Azam remarked, his bowlers giving up 17 boundaries in the opening 16 overs.
