Given the geopolitical hostility between the two countries, when former Pakistan Cricket Team captain Shoaib Malik and Indian tennis champion Sania Mirza got married back in 2010, fans from both countries expressed their displeasure. After eight years of marriage, the couple got engaged out of love and welcomed their son “Izhaan” into the world in 2018. Due to a rumoured schism between the two, however, there have been increasing rumours of a divorce since last year. There was a time when Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza were ideal couple goals.
Shoaib Malik recently updated his Instagram bio, eliminating the line that reads, “Husband to a Superwoman – Sania Mirza.” This generated reactions on social media, with followers throwing the term “divorce” around. Fans’ conjecture that Malik had cheated on Sania with Pakistani beauty and actress Ayesha Omar sparked the initial round of suspicions. The pair appeared closely together in a photo shoot where they were involved. Ayesha eventually explained everything and was adamant that there was no animosity between the two.
Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza:
Malik was recently questioned by Geo News about his unhappy marriage. Malik, though, refuted the allegations, calling them untrue gossip. He actually wanted to spend Eid with Sania but was unable to because of work obligations. Nothing on it, he declared.
He stated, “I’d like to express that it would have been wonderful if we had been together on Eid. However, she is committed to the IPL. She performs in IPL shows. We aren’t together because of this. We continue to share affection. I can honestly tell that I miss her a lot. I had obligations here when Sania and Izhan travelled to conduct the Umrah, and when I took a vacation, I travelled to Dubai to spend time with Izhaan.”
Notably, Sania Mirza has just been named the Women’s Premier League 2023 team coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The power couple also co-hosted a show named “The Mirza and Malik Show” on a Pakistani OTT platform while the rumoured marital conflict began in 2022.
