ICC has released ODI Rankings & there comes a boon for Pakistan’s fast bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi. The prolific bowler rose by seven spots to become the No. 1 ODI bowler in World Cricket. The prolific pacer has had an impressive start to his ODI World Cup where he is the joint-highest wicket-taker along with Adam Zampa with 16 wickets in seven innings at 19.93.
Afridi has replaced Australia’s pacer Josh Hazlewood to move to the top spot with the latter slipping down to the second spot at the ICC ODI Rankings for bowlers. India’s pace sensation Mohammed Siraj & Proteas’ Keshav Maharaj have moved down by one place to acquire three & fourth spots on the ODI Rankings for bowlers. Notably, this is a proud moment as Afriid has acquired the No. 1 spot for the first time in history. Afridi’s swashbuckling three-wicket haul against Bangladesh where he returned with figures of 3 for 21 helped him to march on top of the ODI Rankings.
During the fixture, he also reached the 100 ODI wickets mark completing the milestone in 51 innings which made him the third fast bowler to reach the landmark & the quickest fast bowler to reach the landmark ahead of Mitchell Starc. Indian bowlers like Kuldeep Yadav & Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman also moved up to seventh & eighth positions on the bowlers’ Rankings list.
