Domestic career
On August 11, 2017, he participated in the 2017 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament, making his List A debut for Mis Ainak Region. On September 12, 2017, he made his Twenty20 debut for the Mis Ainak Knights in the Shpageeza Cricket League of 2017.
He was included in Nangarhar’s squad for the inaugural Afghanistan Premier League competition in September 2018.
Ibrahim was a Berkshire player for Boyne Hill in 2021. In 15 games, he scored 479 runs while starting as an opener.
International career
Ibrahim was included in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2017. With 186 runs, he was Afghanistan’s top run scorer in the competition.
He was included in the Afghanistan under-23 squad for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in December of 2018.
Ibrahim Zadran was included in the Afghanistan Test team for their one-time encounter with Bangladesh in August 2019. On September 5, 2019, in a one-off match against Bangladesh, he made his Test debut for Afghanistan. He was included in Afghanistan’s squad for their series against the West Indies the following month. On November 11, 2019, he played his first One Day International (ODI) match for Afghanistan against the West Indies.
On November 14, 2019, he made his Afghanistan T20I debut against the West Indies as well. He was included in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2019. With 240 runs in five games, he was Afghanistan’s top run scorer in the competition. With an undefeated 120 runs in the second match against Zimbabwe in June 2022, Zadran achieved his first century in one-day international cricket.
He hit his second ODI century (106), against Sri Lanka, in Pallekelle in November 2022. The player of the match’s honor went to him. He broke the record for the greatest score by a player from his country in this format with a smash of 162 runs in the third match of the same series.
With 278 runs at an average of 92.66 after the series, he was named player of the series.
Six months later, in June 2023, he won Player of the Match after scoring 98 runs against Sri Lanka in the opening game of the 2023 series in Hambantota. In Sri Lanka, he has scored 106, 10, 162, and 98 in four innings.
On October 7, 2023, he played in the 2023 Cricket World Cup in India versus Bangladesh. Despite losing, he scored 22 runs off of 24 balls. With 87 runs off 113 balls, he delivered a match-winning effort against Pakistan. He was pronounced the winner of the match, which he dedicated to the refugees from Afghanistan.
On November 7, 2023, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, during the ICC World Cup, Zadran scored 129 runs out of 147 balls, which was the greatest score ever by an Afghan player. In a World Cup match, this was Afghanistan’s first century.
