The lead up to WrestleMani 40 saw Cody Rhodes and The Rock having several heated exchanges. “The Brahma Bull” assaulted Cody brutally, but it was the war of words that made the storyline and their conflict more memorable. “The American Nightmare” recently made a big revelation and stated that during one of the promos prior to WrestleMania, he said something to The Rock that he now regrets.
Cody regrets saying this line to The Rock
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Cody Rhodes said, “I think maybe I crossed the line. I did a promo where I said he had LDS.”
“The American Nightmare” said that many people probably enjoyed and even appreciated Cody’s insults towards the Final Boss. However, after going backstage, Cody felt that it did not fit well with the image he wanted to portray. “The Great One” had often crossed the line during those segments, dragging Cody’s family into it.
The American Nightmare acknowledged The Final Boss
Cody praised The Rock and mentioned that during those segments and promos, there was genuine animosity and real dislike for each other as “The Final Boss” was the most influential heel at the time. He brought out the evil and rude side of Cody Rhodes, which made things interesting in WWE programming. However, Cody found it distasteful at the time.
When Cody was asked about the possibility of an encounter between him and The Rock in the future, he gave a hopeful answer. According to him, the possibility and proposal for the clash are still there. While Cody disrespected The Rock in the past, he admitted that it was a privilege for him to share the ring with the WWE veteran.

By sharing the ring with the Hollywood star, Cody realized that, physically, he still has a lot to offer in the ring. He didn’t get tired at WrestleMania 40, as the match lasted over forty minutes. According to the current WWE undisputed champion, there is more story between him and The Rock that he would like the fans to see. Cody feels that The Rock has two personalities in WWE now, one where he is recognized as part of the TKO Board of Directors and another that helps him and the company build good connections with the young WWE fans.
