Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) find themselves in a challenging position for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
After acquiring Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Aiden Markram in the IPL 2024 auction, SRH now face the predicament of not being able to play Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram together. This issue arises due to the limited number of overseas player slots available in the team
Additionally, Glenn Phillips and Marco Jansen, who were part of the SRH squad in the previous season, may find it difficult to secure a spot in the team due to the competition for overseas player positions
The only player with an absolute fixed position in the team seems to be Pat Cummins, who was acquired for a significant sum of Rs 20.50 crore. Cummins was later announced as leader of SRH as he has already successfully led Australia to Cricket World Cup and World Test Championship final victories.
The best thing that team did was to leave our Harry Brook and Adil Rashid or else the case would have been more complex for Orange Army. Seeing on current T20 form, undoubtedly Heinrich Klaasen will playing in the middle order.
The top order is already taken by Travis Head alongside Abhishek Sharma. So, three set overseas players are: Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen and Pat Cummins. It means that Aiden Markram, Glenn Phillips or Marco Jansen, only one of them will get a chance.
It is more likely that Hyderabad will go with an all-rounder but in any case, two of best players in the world, will be lefr out of squad.
However, with the limited number of overseas player slots, SRH will have to make strategic decisions to balance their team and ensure optimal performance in the tournament.
SRH’s squad for IPL 2024 includes Abhishek Sharma, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Abdul Samad, Anmolpreet Singh, Glenn Phillips, Heinrich Klaasen, Upendra Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Vivrant Sharma, Sanvir Singh, Samarth Vyas, Mayank Dagar, Adil Rashid, Mayank Markande, Akeal Hosein, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, Kartik Tyagi, Umran Malik, T Natarajan, Fazalhaq Farooqi
