The Tigers began 2024 with a thrilling 3-2 home win over Blackburn thanks to goals from Delap, Connolly and Jones, despite letting a 2-0 lead slip. Swansea City have struggled for consistent form in 2024 so far. After starting the new year by beating West Brom 1-0 courtesy of Cullen’s goal, they drew 2-2 at home in a thrilling match against Birmingham. Despite Darling and Lowe putting Swansea ahead twice, Dembélé and James earned Birmingham a point. Swansea then suffered back-to-back defeats – firstly a disappointing 1-3 home loss to Southampton as goals from Adams, Smallbone and Downes saw off the hosts despite Paterson pulling one back.
This was followed by another home defeat to high-flying Leicester, with Swansea soundly beaten 1-3 despite Allen netting a late consolation after efforts from Dewsbury-Hall, Mavididi and Akgün. Most recently, Swansea suffered a fourth game without a win, losing 0-1 at home to Plymouth. Whittaker scored Plymouth’s winner to leave Swansea with just one win in five league games in 2024. Overall, after an encouraging first half to the season, Swansea’s form has dipped alarmingly. The manager must address their struggling attack and leaky defense to turn results around.
