Huddersfield Town analysis
They began this run strongly, beating playoff rivals Sheffield United 1-0 at home thanks to Ward’s second half strike in a tight contest between the top two sides. They followed up with an impressive 2-0 home win over Reading, scoring either side of halftime through Koroma and Hungbo to continue their push for automatic promotion. However, Huddersfield then suffered a disappointing 1-3 away loss to Plymouth, equalizing Helik’s header but conceding twice more after the break. They were then beaten 0-1 at home by Leicester in a close match settled by Mavididi’s strike. Most recently, Huddersfield picked up a point in a 1-1 draw away at Middlesbrough, going ahead fortuitously before being pegged back.
Overall, Huddersfield have shown they can compete with and beat top teams while scoring goals. However, their away form has been more problematic. Tightening up defensively on their travels and maintaining intensity for the full 90 minutes will be key as they aim to sustain their promotion bid. But the results against direct rivals indicate Huddersfield have the quality needed for the Championship.
Norwich form analysis
Norwich began this period with a disappointing 1-2 home loss to playoff-chasing West Brom, taking the lead before conceding twice in the second half. A 0-1 home defeat to Blackpool followed as Norwich struggled to create chances and were undone by an early goal. However, they responded strongly by beating Hull 2-1 at home, coming from behind with goals either side of halftime from Rowe and Idah. But defensive issues resurfaced in an entertaining 4-4 draw away at Southampton. As Norwich led twice but conceded four including late equalizers. Most recently, Norwich produced an impressive performance to beat Millwall 3-1 at home. They scored three first half goals before seeing out the win.
Overall, it has been an inconsistent run for Norwich mixing excellent attacking displays with defensive vulnerabilities. At their best, Norwich have shown they can score freely even against strong teams. However, tightening up defensively and improving their away form is critical if they are to sustain a promotion push. But the attacking talent in the squad provides a strong foundation to build on.
