Houston Rockets Player: Kevin Porter Jr., a guard for the Houston Rockets, was jailed in New York City on Monday, according to police sources and ABC News, for allegedly striking his girlfriend, the former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick.
Official charges of assault and strangulation were brought against Porter, 23.
He entered a not-guilty plea on Tuesday and was freed on a $75,000 cash bond. An interim order of protection was issued by the judge.
The Millennium Hilton was where Porter and Gondrezick were staying, so early on Monday morning, they went there for a night out. The late hour of his return reportedly incensed Gondrezick, who then shut the door. Upon entering the hotel with the assistance of security, the porter allegedly attacked the woman.
According to a criminal complaint from Gondrezick, Porter repeatedly hit her “about the face with a closed fist, causing a laceration above her right eye and bruising and substantial pain to her face.”

According to the lawsuit, she said Porter squeezed her neck “forcefully, causing her to experience difficulty breathing, redness and bruising to her neck, and substantial pain.”
Gondrezick was brought to NYU Langone Medical Centre, where medical professionals discovered that she had broken a neck vertebra.
Porter must return to court on October 16.
The two were in the Big Apple for Fashion Week. Porter and Gondrezick were seen on camera on September 7 at the Vogue Smart Tox NYFW Kickoff event.
Porter, a Houston Rockets Player, a University of Southern California product who was selected with the No. 30 overall choice in the 2019 NBA Draught, has grown into a great player for the Rockets. In 2022–23, he averaged 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, which was his finest season to date.
Gondrezick, 26, played collegiate basketball for West Virginia and Michigan until Indiana selected her with the fourth overall pick in the WNBA draught in 2021. Before being released, she played for the Fever for one season. She is presently a free agent after sitting out the previous two WNBA seasons.
This is hardly Porter’s first accusation of misbehaviour. Porter, who at the time was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, was charged with hitting and yanking a woman’s hair after an altercation in Cleveland in August 2020. He was taken into custody for having a loaded pistol a few months later in November 2020. Later, the accusations were dropped.
He played with the Cleveland Cavaliers for one season until being fired in 2021 as a result of an altercation in the locker room. Porter apparently lost his cool when his locker was given to someone else and started screaming and tossing food, according to The Athletic. He was repeatedly asked to calm down, but he refused and was eventually instructed to clear out his locker. He was dealt to the Rockets a short while after.
