Hardik Pandya Ruled Out of World Cup: Prasidh Krishna Steps In
India’s World Cup campaign has recieved a significant blow as Hardik Pandya has been sidelined for the remainder of the tournament due to an ankle injury. The International Cricket Council (ICC) made the official announcement on Saturday, confirming the unfortunate news for Indian cricket fans. In his absence, Prasidh Krishna has been approved as Pandya’s replacement.
Pandya’s injury occurred during a crucial moment in the match against Bangladesh, where he attempted to stop a shot with his foot while bowling. Unfortunately, his effort resulted in a left ankle injury that would keep him on the sidelines for the subsequent matches against England, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.
Hardik Pandya had made a significant impact in the initial stages of the World Cup, taking five vital wickets in India’s opening three matches. However, fate had other plans, and Pandya’s injury created an opportunity for Prasidh Krishna to step up and fill the void.
Prasidh Krishna is a promising pace bowler, has already showcased his talent in the international arena, having played 17 one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches for India. He has taken 33 total wickets in his international career, because of his height he gets extra bounce which is always tough to negotiate.
Krishna’s selection as Pandya’s replacement brings an added dimension to the Indian pace attack. However, it is unlikely that he will get a chance to play unless one of India’s four pacers suffers an unfortunate injury.
Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are doing exceptional job for India at the moment. The decision will undoubtedly be a tough one for the team management, as each of these bowlers brings their own set of strengths to the table.
Despite the absence of Hardik Pandya, Team India has continued to dominate in the World Cup, leading the points table with an impressive seven wins from as many matches. India has an excellent bowling attack full of experience and skill.
As they head into the semi-finals, India will not look any changes. It’s simple for them to go with a combination that has worked so well in the tournament. They are set to face second-placed South Africa in Kolkata on Sunday.
Hardik Pandya might not be available and Prasidh Krishna might not play, yet India will go as favourites because have an ultimate standard with their performance. Going past South Africa will not be as easy as it has been with other teams, so their is a cracking encounter on cards.
