Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has joined Mumbai Indians Camp ahead of the IPL 2024. Notably, Pandya will lead Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, replacing Five-time trophy-winning Captain, Rohit Sharma.
In a video shared by the Mumbai Indians Official website, Pandya was seen entering the Mumbai Indians dressing room & doing pooja along with head coach Mark Boucher. In a major move before the IPL 2024 auction, Pandya’s franchise Gujarat Titans has traded him to Mumbai Indians for a whopping price of 15 crores & also elevated him as the Captain of the franchise.
Hardik led Gujarat Titans to Title Triumph
Hardik has led Gujarat Titans to title triumph in their maiden IPL season while they ended IPL 2023 as the runner-up. In 31 matches, Pandya scored 833 runs at an average of 37.86 and a strike rate of over 133, with six half-centuries and a best score of 87*. He also took 11 wickets for the team, with the best figures of 3/17.
Initially, Hardik was a part of the MI franchise from 2015-2021 where he amassed 1,476 runs at an average of 27.33 at a strike rate of over 153, with four half-centuries and the best score of 91. He also took 42 wickets for the team, with the best bowling figures of 3/20. Pandya has won five IPL trophies, four with MI (2015, 2017, 2019, 2020) and GT (2022).
CSK will lock horns with RCB in IPL 2024 Opening Clash
The 17th edition of the league will begin from March 22 with CSK locking horns with RCB in the league’s opening clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. On the other hand, Last year’s runners-up Gujarat Titans, and five-time champions Mumbai Indians will square off against each other in a mouth-watering clash on March 24 at Ahmedabad. The match has gained a lot of hype because of star all-rounder Pandya’s move to his former franchise MI following two great seasons with GT. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans have elevated Shubman Gill as the captain of Gujarat Titans.
