Now Vince McMahon has completely departed from WWE and like earlier, when he used to pull strings from the shadows, even after retirement, all is now completely over. Triple H has been able to make his mark as the Head of Creative and this has led to several notable changes in the company that include longer title reigns and more diverse camera functions. Wrestlers who had no future in the company have also been given a chance to shine and one of the examples of this is Gunther.
The Ring General didn’t want to be part of the old regime
The Australian wrestler was one of the most fantastic prospects as an individual and then he became a big name in NXT and NXT UK. However, there were rumors that Vince McMahon planned to remove Gunther from the main roster. Ultimately, that didn’t happen under Triple H and recently, the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion admitted that he didn’t want to be part of the old WWE.
Gunther stated that he didn’t like the product before Triple H and he also didn’t want to be a part of it. “I am who I am and this is the best I can do. A big part of it is that I need to spend my time in the ring and have the time to play matches that I can. There would not have been the opportunity under the old regime. With Triple H, he always saw that in me, and he always had the same vision for me.
Gunther is thriving greatly now
The Australian noted that his time in the ring is another noteworthy change initiated by Triple H. WWE matches now last longer than they used to under McMahon, especially at premium live events. The cards are made up of five to six matches and wrestlers selected in those matches really have to show that they are worthy of the spot.
Gunther is currently thriving in a locker room that is led by The Game. Although he has recently suffered a big loss, it looks like his stunning run has just begun. It is very certain that he will be a world champion in WWE one day, and that moment might come before this year ends. With the Bash in Berlin at the end of the summer, you can imagine that Triple H will have a big match in his mind for “The Ring General.”
Gunther’s potential is now being realized on the biggest stage. If Triple H had taken over much earlier, there would have been more potential wrestlers who would have gotten a chance to show their talent more brightly in the ring.
