Granada vs Valencia: Preview
Granada form analysis
Granada’s recent five-game La Liga run showcases a side still striving for consistency in their quest to earn promotion. A narrow 1-0 home loss to Atletico Madrid kickstarted this spell before a disappointing 2-0 defeat away at mid table Getafe, undone by goals from Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood and veteran Borja Mayoral. Granada stopped the rot with a creditable 1-1 home draw against Las Palmas – Brian Mendez’s opener cancelled out by Pejino’s second half leveler.
But Granada produced their best display of the season in an enthralling 3-3 draw at La Liga high-flyers Barcelona. Despite trailing three times, Lamine Yamal’s brace and a Ignasi Miquel header earned Granada a deserved point at the Nou Camp. Most recently at home, Myrto Uzuni’s equalizer salvaged a 1-1 draw against Almeria after Marc Pubill’s early strike. Attackingly dangerous but defensively vulnerable, securing more wins from promising positions is key for Granada’s push away from relegation.
Valencia form analysis
Valencia’s recent run of five La Liga matches has showcased a struggling side to maintain their position. After scrapping to a 1-0 home win over Athletic Bilbao thanks to Hugo Duro’s second half winner, Valencia were comfortably beaten 2-0 at top four hopefuls Atletico Madrid. A brief revival followed – two first half goals from Duro and Roman Yaremchuk earned Valencia a vital 2-1 home win over struggling Almeria.
However, their fragility was exposed in a poor 2-0 defeat away at Las Palmas – conceding twice in the last two minutes. Most recently during a goalless home stalemate with mid-table Sevilla, Valencia failed to produce a shot on target. With shaky confidence and the division’s least potent attack, Valencia lack inspiration in the final third and look destined for another nervy battle to avoid the drop. Remaining disciplined and resilient will be key if they are to preserve their top-flight status yet again.
