Golden State Warriors’ point guard Gary Payton II injured his leg during the match against the Oklahoma City Thunder on November 16. He was diagnosed with a minor sprain, but it was serious enough to keep him out of the next three games. His absence is definitely hurting the Warriors, especially on defense. But the good news is that Gary may be on his way to returning to action.
Gary missed three games

Payton II has already missed four games this season for the Warriors. He averaged 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assists per game before getting a sprained foot. Although he is averaging 17.3 mpg, he was causing havoc on the defensive end. Currently, the Golden State Warriors lack defense. Draymond Green is still serving the five-game suspension after hitting Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert on November 14. He is expected to return on November 28 for the game against the Sacramento Kings.
The team needs a strong defense

With the absence of Green, the Warriors are in desperate need of a player who can take over defense. Payton II will have no problem taking on the opponent’s best players once he joins the team again. His determination, enthusiasm and anticipation usually compensate for his physical disadvantages. The Warriors have lost seven out of their last eight games, of which six are consecutive losses. The weakness of the team is currently their lack of ability to stop their opponents.
The Warriors have tough games ahead

The Warriors’ next 10 games are going to be a tough challenge and the returns of Gary Payton II and Draymond Green are very important. The team will face the San Antonio Spurs, LA Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and Boston Celtics at home. If Payton returns in the game against the Spurs, it will be very beneficial for Golden State.
