Getafe vs Granada: Preview
Getafe form analysis
Geta has shown mixed form in recent matches. On December 9th, they picked up a narrow 1-0 home win against Valencia thanks to a late goal from Borja Mayoral. Defensively they looked strong, limiting Valencia’s chances, with center-backs Domingos Duarte and Gabriel Paulista having good games. Offensively they struggled to create clear openings until Mayoral’s late winner. Against Sevilla on December 16th, Getafe earned an impressive 3-0 away victory. Borja Mayoral opened the scoring early from the penalty spot before Jaime Mata and Mason Greenwood added second half goals.
It was a dominating attacking performance from Getafe. However, on December 20th Getafe conceded three goals at home in a wild 3-3 draw with Atletico Madrid. Despite goals from Mayoral and Oscar Rodriguez, Getafe’s defense struggled to contain Atletico’s dangerous attack. Most recently on January 2nd, Getafe suffered a disappointing 2-0 home loss to Rayo Vallecano, highlighting their inconsistency issues. And just on January 21st, Getafe lost a back-and-forth game 3-2 away to Osasuna, despite goals from Mayoral and Nemanja Maksimovic. Overall, Getafe has shown the capacity to earn impressive wins but also suffers from defensive fragility and inconsistency in their form.
Granada form analysis
Granada has struggled to find consistent form in recent matches. On December 16th, they suffered a narrow 1-0 away loss to Celta Vigo despite containing Celta’s attack well. The team failed to create many clear-cut chances going forward. Things got worse on December 20th as Granada were soundly beaten 3-0 at home by Sevilla. The loss highlighted defensive issues as Granada conceded three times, while the attack sputtered. Granada managed to rebound on January 3rd earning an important 2-0 home win against Cadiz.
Myrto Uzuni and Bryan Zaragoza provided the goals in what was a vital victory. However, on January 14th Granada came up short in a 1-0 loss away to Real Betis, with their attack again lacking firepower. Most recently on January 23rd, Granada suffered another narrow 1-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid with Álvaro Morata netting the winner. Overall Granada has struggled in recent games. Scoring goals has also been an issue. Shoring up defensive weaknesses and finding more consistent scoring will be key if Granada hopes to turn around their recent poor form.
