Frosinone vs Monza: Preview
Frosinone form analysis
The club has found Serie A challenging, with heavy defeats punctuating improved performances. After a difficult 1-3 home loss to AC Milan on December 3rd, Frosinone managed their first clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Torino on December 10th. However, despite going close through Kaio Jorge, defensive issues resurfaced in a 1-2 defeat away at Lecce on December 16th. Frosinone responded well by pushing Juventus close in a battling 1-2 home loss on December 23rd, equalizing through J. Báez before conceding late to D. Vlahović.
The year ended with another heavy loss, going down 1-3 away at Lazio on December 30th – undone after taking a surprise lead via M. Soulé’s penalty before the hosts’ quality prevailed. While Frosinone has shown admirable spirit and attacking threat, defending remains a glaring problem having conceded 14 goals in their last five league games. Addressing these defensive weaknesses and concentration lapses will be critical for the manager to give Frosinone a chance of avoiding relegation back to Serie B come season’s end. Identifying a reliable center-back partnership seems key to stabilising results.
Monza form analysis
After a promising start on their Serie A return, Monza’s form has dipped lately. A last gasp 1-2 home loss to Juventus on December 2nd was followed by an important 1-0 victory over relegation rivals Genoa on December 10th via an 83rd minute Dany Mota winner. However, Monza then suffered three straight defeats – a 3-0 thrashing away at top four hopefuls AC Milan on December 17th exposing defensive issues. This was followed by narrow home losses of 0-1 against Fiorentina on December 23rd and high-flying league leaders Napoli on December 29th, with Monza struggling to create clear chances.
Overall, the heavy Milan loss halted Monza’s early momentum significantly. Tightening up defensively and improving chance creation seem clear priorities for manager Raffaele Palladino if Monza are to recover and push for a top half finish. More ruthlessness in attack and protective instinct when out of possession must return quickly, as Monza risk being slowly sucked into a relegation skirmish if results do not improve. Signs of the enterprise shown earlier this season needs to reemerge soon starting with their next match against Bologna.
