Frosinone vs AC Milan: Preview
Frosinone form analysis
Frosinone’s recent results have highlighted significant struggles at both ends of the pitch. On December 30th, Frosinone suffered a 3-1 home thrashing by Lazio despite Matias Soule’s early penalty. Defensive issues emerged again on January 6th in a chaotic 3-2 home loss to strugglers Monza, requiring three own goals from the visitors to stay competitive. Problems intensified on January 16th as Frosinone were demolished 5-0 at Atalanta, exposing fragilities in both boxes. Frosinone finally earned their first win of 2023 on January 21st at home against fellow relegation candidates Cagliari. With goals from Luca Mazzitelli, Soule and Kaio Jorge sealing a vital 3-1 victory.
However, defensive issues resurfaced four days later as Frosinone conceded early in an eventual 1-1 away draw at Verona with Kaio again scoring. So while capable of attacking production on their day, Frosinone have badly struggled defensively all season with a league-high 50 goals conceded already. With relegation growing likelier by the week, priority number one for Frosinone must be tightening up defensively and cutting out individual errors if they are to stand any chance of surviving in Serie A.
AC Milan form analysis
AC Milan’s recent form has showcased an impressive attacking threat but vulnerabilities emerging in defense. On December 30th, Milan edged past Sassuolo 1-0 at home thanks to a Christian Pulisic goal. Three days later it was a commanding 3-0 thrashing of Empoli as Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Olivier Giroud and Charles De Ketelaere all scored. Milan’s attack dazzled again on January 15th, beating top four rivals Roma 3-1 as Yacine Adli, Giroud and Theo Hernandez led the scoring despite a late Roma penalty.
Defensive issues surfaced on January 21st however, requiring a 90th minute Nuno Okafor winner despite twice losing the lead during a 3-2 away victory at Udinese. Problems at the back emerged again on January 28th during a 2-2 home draw with Bologna, as after Loftus-Cheek scored twice Milan conceded late to drop points despite dominating. So while boasting dazzling attacking talent. Individual errors leading to cheap goals conceded could undermine Milan’s Serie A title push if not addressed. Cutting those mistakes out could make them champions.
