Former UFC Champion Francis Ngannou has made it clear that he wants to step back in the boxing ring and his main target is fighting Deontay Wilder. Currently, “The Predator” is preparing for his PFL debut against Renan Ferreria on October 19. He has expressed his desire to take on top boxing stars. Ngannou last stepped in the boxing ring in October 2023, when he surprised the world by knocking down Tyson Fury during their match, although he eventually lost by split decision. The Cameroonian fighter’s stunning performance created high expectations for his boxing career, even though his next match against Anthony Joshua in March ended in a second-round knockout.
Ngannou wants to fight top boxers
Ngannou is unfazed by this setback and has shown deep interest in facing Wilder. Recently, in an interview with TalkSport, Francis emphasized that a boxing match against Wilder would be a fair contest, unlike an MMA bout, where Ngannou believes he would have a distinct advantage.
“Absolutely, I would love that fight. Pure boxing, don’t be delusional here. That’s where we both stand a chance,” said Ngannou. He further mentioned the possibility of future bouts against top boxers like Oleksandr Usyk and a rematch with Fury. However, he currently remains focused on the upcoming PFL bout, which he sees as a crucial step to keep his momentum going and remind fans of his formidable force in the combat world.
Meanwhile, Deontay Wilder has also shown interest in fighting with Ngannou. The former WBC heavyweight champion is known for his strong knockout power and could pose a major challenge for “The Predator.”
A clash between Wilder and Ngannou would be blockbuster
Both fighters are coming back from recent defeats, so a clash between them could prove to be a defining moment of their combat careers. The prospect of this matchup adds another layer of thrill to Ngannou’s budding combat sport journey as he continues to balance himself in both MMA and boxing.

“The Bronze Bomber” has remained quiet about his future in fighting but has made it clear that he has no interest in moving down to the bridgerweight division after being offered a title shot. For the time being, combat fans can only wait to see what happens with Ngannou and Wilder’s potential matchup talks.
