The purpose of every press conference is to ensure that what happens and what is said make headlines. This is the whole point of the press conference. However, there have been a few instances recently where questions asked during WWE press conferences following the PLE have garnered the wrong kind of headlines. Recently, Matt Camp, formerly the host of WWE’s The Bump, has detailed what exactly the company wants from its press conferences and it’s definitely not reporters who ask controversial questions.
Former WWE Employee about company’s extension
Camp is no longer with the Stamford-based promotion, but he detailed on his Wrestling Matt Show that he has been a part of press conferences in the past, saying he was welcomed whenever he asked questions because WWE knew he would ask questions that would keep the show dynamic.
“Hey, you can do it. Yes, we would love to ask you a question. You Know Why? Because I was a reliable person to ask questions because I was a reliable person to ask a question. I wasn’t gonna say anything crazy, I work there,” said Camp.
Camp added this before Survivor Series 2022, so during a period when WWE didn’t have as much controversy as it has over the past few months. However, he confirmed that even then, possibly even more so now, WWE wanted its press conferences to be an extension of the show, despite being surrounded by action journalists asking questions.
The former WWE employee revealed that the company wants the fans to be present there and be a part of their show, the only thing they don’t want is to mess with the part of the show. They want it to be an addendum to the end of the show. When things are being wrapped, they let people speak a little bit and show their enthusiasm.

The WWE CEO was criticized recently
Triple H has been making headlines for the wrong reasons at two recent WWE press conferences. The first case was when he was asked about the Vince McMahon lawsuit, which was filed a few days ago. He was completely unprepared, even claiming that he had not read the lawsuit. He said on his show that even though the company wants to keep press conferences an extension of the show, Triple H needs to prepare better for these kinds of tough questions, especially regarding the topics that will most certainly be discussed. The WWE CEO again came under criticism for his press conference statement when he was asked about Drew Gulak. “The Game” resorted to taking aim at the news agencies that reported on Gulak’s release.
