Just like the MMA community, former UFC fighter Ben Askren also doesn’t seem to understand why there is so much hatred between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The two men faced in the UFC octagon only once, but their rivalry became one of the most famous incidents. It all started when “The Notorious” attacked Khabib’s bus before their fight. This led to an intense and rageful pre-match conference, which hyped UFC 229. However, things got worse as, after McGregor lost the match, members of both teams got into a physical altercation.
Askren expresses surprise to McGregor’s hate towards Khabib
But the incident happened in 2018 and now six years have passed, but still Conor McGregor seems to not have moved on from it and continues to try mocking Khabib by his comments online. Recently he made a comment in reference to Donald Trump’s mention of Khabib, to which “Funky” expressed shock.
Recently, while speaking on Daniel Cormier’s show on YouTube, Askren said, “Why does he hate Khabib so much? Donald Trump just goes off the cuff and says Khabib is his favorite fighter, which is hilarious. I honestly thought it would be like Conor McGregor- a showy flashman that has some fancy knockouts..I don’t know why he hates Khabib so much ? I know you got your a** beat Conor, but let it go.” Aksren further stated that now Trump is going to lose the election because of this.
Recently, during an interview with Adin Ross, Trump named Khabib as his favorite UFC fighter. This offended the Irishman and he called the statement a campaign-ending decision. McGregor never misses any opportunity to take a dig at “The Eagle.” In the wake of allegations of a potential agitator involved in the Dagestani terror attacks practicing at Khabib’s ‘Eagles MMA Gym,’ McGregor called Khabib a terrorist.

McGregor also took a shot at the Dagestani fighter when the Russian government accused Khabib of tax evasion. According to the reports, Khabib owes a tax of 297 million rubles to the government. This news gave “The Notorious” the opportunity to take a dig at his arch rival, who claimed to buy his house. It is clear that the feud between Khabib and McGregor is not over yet, as the Irishman doesn’t like to leave a single chance to criticize “The Eagle.”
