Smackdown’s episode of September 16 was one of the most entertaining episodes in recent WWE history, with John Cena playing a huge role. The 16-time World Champion teamed up with his former rival AJ Styles and stopped Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso from beating AJ down. After the show closed, the two faced the bloodline members in a star-studded tag team match.

As expected, the match ended with an easy victory after John Cena pinned Jimmy Uso. WWE might repeat this at Fastlane, with Cena potentially wrestling in his second premium live event in 2023. It’s been a long time since John Cena and AJ Styles have shared the ring. The last time they faced each other was in February 2018, and they had only teamed together once before this SmackDown. The former rivals defeated Kevin Owens and Rusev on the July 11, 2017 segment of SmackDown.
It still remains to be seen how the alliance between AJ Styles and John Cena will turn out. They could be ahead of Sikoa and Uso, as The Phenomenal is reportedly in line to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Another interesting thing that happened on SmackDown was the Hollywood star “The Rock” making an appearance.
The Rock reunited with former Rival
Pat McAfee returned to SmackDown and received a huge reaction from fans. Although he got interrupted by Austin Theory. Austin said he had unfinished business with Pat and threatened to take him out. McFee responded that no one cared about Theory before The Rock made a return and surprised the crowd.
The Rock entered the ring, took out his jacket, and said his catchphrase before Theory interrupted him. The Rock then said that people care about his words and called him an “A**hole”. The crowd chanted the same, and the audio was cut down for the expletive. Theory became angry and yelled before attacking the veteran. The Rock then gave him a spinebuster and people’s elbow. Later in the episode, we saw him reuniting with former rival, John Cena.
