After their star fast bowler Naseem Shah hurt himself during the recently finished Asia Cup, Pakistan faced a severe setback. Naseem was bowling exceptionally well during the competition, but he regrettably sustained a shoulder injury during a match against India and was forced to withdraw.
According to recent reports, Naseem will also miss the entirety of the ODI World Cup 2023 owing to injury. Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistan cricketer, has criticised the team’s leadership and the captain of Pakistan. He posted on the social media site ‘X’ and claimed that the management should have known that Sri Lanka is a hot and humid country and that this is why the fast bowlers quickly tyre.
Former Pakistan cricketer on Babar Azam:
“Why did Pakistan management and selectors not know Sri Lanka is humid and hot out fast bowlers need rest and fresh to go hard in the tournament bloody dum Captain and selection that’s why we rout of finals idiots treat our gem like precious.” Tweeted Kaneria.
In a Super Fours match in the Asia Cup 2023, India humiliated the Men in Green by 228 runs. But that wasn’t enough for them, as they went on to lose another game against Sri Lanka in the Super Fours round. They were eliminated from the competition as a result of the defeat.
The Pakistani team’s performance at the 2023 Asia Cup was extremely disappointing, and they also experienced several setbacks as a result of the injuries to their star players Salman Agha, Haris Rauf, and Naseem. It’s interesting that against the Indian team, all three players suffered injuries.
The Pakistani team for the upcoming World Cup has not been revealed. The squad’s replacement for Naseem will be interesting to see. However, a few names, including Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Shahnawaz Dahani, are expected to be added to the squad. But because Naseem can take important wickets at any point in the game, the team will undoubtedly feel his absence.
