Cricketer Shubman Gill, the opening batsman for India, has received plaudits from former England left-arm spinner Monty Panesar. The latter has scored many runs for India in a variety of formats. Shikhar Dhawan was replaced by Gill in the ODI format, but he had already cemented his position in the Test team much earlier. The right-hander replaced KL Rahul in the T20I cricket. Virat Kohli, the current teammate and previous captain of India, has frequently been contrasted with Gill.
Panesar, meanwhile, asserted that Gill’s batting style may make the game easier. Gill has fewer trigger motions, the former left-arm spinner added. According to Panesar, speaking to PTI, “He seems to be the kind of cricketer who finds it simple to simplify his game, in my opinion. It is evident in the way he bats. His movements have a few triggers. He then just places the ball wherever he wants since he has confidence in his hand, balance, and footwork.”
Panesar praises cricketer Shubham Gill:
The former England player continued by saying that Kohli is less like Gill and more like Rohit Sharma. Panesar said, though, that everything hinged on how he handled the pressure in the upcoming weeks.
“He resembles Rohit Sharma more so than Virat Kohli. But everything will rely on how he handles the strain over the course of the next seven weeks or so,” he continued.
The 2018 U19 champion has been disqualified from the current match versus Australia. He was said to have contracted Dengue, and Sharma at the toss acknowledged that he had not yet recovered. Unfortunately, Shubman’s recovery was too slow. He will be replaced by Ishan.
Notably, the Punjab player did not travel to the stadium with the team, as ESPNcricinfo reported an hour earlier. Since then, it had been obvious he would not participate in this game. Ishan Kishan has taken over in his place.
