Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir frequently criticises Pakistan as he never misses an opportunity to hurl bombs at the Men in Green with his nasty words. Gambhir has consistently voiced his strong view whenever a former Pakistan player makes fun of the Indian Cricket team, whether it be on or off the pitch.
In a stunning change of events, Gambhir recently praised Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team and their standout batter. Babar, in the opinion of Gambhir, has the batting prowess to light up the 2017 ODI World Cup. In comparison to other elite batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and others, he claimed that Babar is of a higher calibre.
According to a statement made by Gambhir, Hindustan Times, “Babar Azam possesses every talent necessary to light up this World Cup. Very few players that had a lot of time to bat have I ever seen. In my opinion, Babar Azam is of a higher calibre than Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and David Warner.”
Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir on Babar Azam:
Gambhir continued to extol Babar’s brilliance, saying that he has a wide variety of shots that set him apart from other players. The crucial thing to remember is that Babar is now the top batter in the ODI format, and with the major event coming up, he can greatly help the team with his outstanding batting performance.
He continued, “Babar is particularly unique because of his wide variety of batting swings. He is the only batsman in the world with such a diverse repertoire of shots. Babar Azam has a lot of batting time, which is a feature that is uncommon among modern batters. His cool and collected attitude enables him to accumulate runs consistently.”
