#3. Evin Lewis – 176 vs England, The Oval 2017
After winning the toss, England chose to field first, and the West Indies team went on to post a mammoth total of 356-5 in their allotted 50 overs. Lewis was the standout performer for the visitors, scoring 176 runs off just 130 balls. His innings were filled with attacking strokes and power hitting, putting immense pressure on the English bowlers. Lewis received good support from captain Jason Holder, who contributed with a quickfire 77 off 62 balls.
However, due to persistent rain, the match had to be called off midway. The Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method came into play, and England was declared the winner by 6 runs based on being ahead of the expected score at that stage. Jason Roy’s gritty innings of 84 off 66 balls and Moeen Ali’s quickfire 48 off 25 balls played a significant role in England’s pursuit.
Although it was an unexpected and anticlimactic end to what could have been a thrilling contest, Lewis’ innings established him as a fierce striker of the cricket ball at the highest level.
