Fiorentina vs Juventus: Preview
Fiorentina form analysis
Fiorentina’s recent run of games has shown promising attacking displays but defensive issues holding them back at times. They started with a 1-1 away draw at Frosinone in the cup, taking the lead through Nico Gonzalez before conceding late. Building on this, Fiorentina secured an excellent 3-0 home win over Cagliari thanks to Gonzalez again alongside an own goal and Nzola’s late strike.
However, problems surfaced at the back in their next game despite beating Napoli 3-1 away – taking the lead early before twice hitting back through Bonaventura and Gonzalez after conceding sloppily from a penalty. This continued next match as defensive errors proved costly in a 0-2 home loss to Empoli. Most recently they suffered late heartbreak, losing 0-1 away at Lazio from a last gasp Immobile penalty after matching the hosts. Overall, Fiorentina carries real threat in attack but their defensive fragilities have often undermined their good work going forward. Adding steel at the back is crucial to their European hopes.
Juventus form analysis
Juventus’ recent run of games has showcased a typically stubborn defense along with struggles unlocking teams at the other end. They started with a gritty 1-0 home win over Lecce thanks to Milik’s strike after intense pressure. This solidity remained in a goalless draw away at Atalanta, defending resolutely to earn a point. Building momentum, Juventus then secured an excellent 2-0 home win over rivals Torino courtesy of goals from Gatti and Milik.
However, problems in attack surfaced away at AC Milan as they ground out a smash and grab 1-0 victory despite minimal goal threat, scoring from a rare chance. Most recently Juve left it late again, beating Verona 1-0 at home thanks to Cambiaso’s 90th minute winner in another largely sterile attacking display. Overall, Juventus have been typically hard to break down but lack creativity going forward. Unlocking deeper defenses on a regular basis is key if they are to compete for the title this season.
