Judgement Day member Finn Balor has officially signed a new contract extension with WWE and has secured his place in the company for the next five years. Now Balor will be part of WWE until 2029, a development that he himself finds surprising given his age and the stage of his career.
Finn Balor signed a 5 year extension
Balor recently appeared on the ‘What’s The Story’ podcast and expressed his excitement over this career milestone. “I remember when I was 20 and I was like, ‘If I make it to 30 I’ll be doing well.’ Then, you’re in your 40s, I’m like, do they want me to keep doing this? Am I able to keep doing it? How is the body going to feel?” said Balor.
Both sides were eager to continue the partnership
Balor revealed that the contract negotiations were clear, as both he and the company were keen to continue the partnership. Finn revealed he had a couple of conversations and the feelings were mutual. He wanted to stay and the company wanted him to stay. Finn further stated that he was not sure if he would get another offer from WWE six months after his deal expired. He was wondering if this was his last run in the WWE.
The Irish wrestler reflected on his journey
Balor reflected on his career journey and how he has traveled all over the world, starting in England and figured it would be the biggest chapter of his career. He moved to Japan for eight years and figured that would be his new home. Then he gave WWE a shot to see what happens and it turned out to be best for him as the Irish wrestler became one of the most popular stars in the company.
Balor admitted he was a little surprised by his unexpected longevity in the company. He has been in WWE for over ten years and will be here for five more years. He jokingly said, “Fingers crossed, they don’t fire me. It’s a pretty wild journey.” It is unlikely WWE will do that, especially given his popularity.
