September 8, Friday became a forgetful day for Canada and the United States as both teams were eliminated from the 2023 FIBA World Cup. First the USA lost the semi-final to Germany and then Canada lost to Serbia. Now, Team USA and Canada will face each other for the bronze medal. The match will take place on Sunday, September 10. Both teams were indeed the strongest in the tournament and were expected to meet in the finals. However, they struggled against the roster continuity of Serbia and Germany. Nevertheless, both will look to regain their glory and will seek the bronze medal to end their campaign.
Prediction
The match was supposed to be the final game but now the two teams will clash for the bronze medal and will play to end their FIBA World Cup campaign on a happy note. Team USA has a good depth in their roster with the advantage of athleticism. However, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will probably be the best player on the court, giving Canada a slight advantage. But USA’s roster can also be proven to be the deciding factor, so America can be viewed as slight favorites in the game.
Players to watch out
Team USA will feature Anthony Edwards , Austin Reeves and Paolo Banchero on the offensive side, while Brunson and Bridges will be playing important roles as well. Josh Hart has enjoyed the tournament and Bradon Ingram will look to finish on a strong note after struggling throughout the event.
Canada will rely on Alexander, other players who gave impressive performances in the World Cup are Dillon Brooks and Kelly Olynyk. Dwight Powell will be expected to provide physicality with his offense. Canada will also look to bring forward Nickell Alexander-Walker into the game after a stellar tournament.
