The 2023 FIBA World Cup has just begun, but the Philippines and Angola will be having a do-or-die game already on Sunday. In this article, we will give you a preview of the game, including predictions and rosters.
Â
The Philippines lost their opening game against the Dominican Republic on Friday. The action in the game was going well until Jordan Clarkson fouled out. After this, Karl-Anthony Towns led his team to an 87-81 victory. Meanwhile, Angola also kept the game close against Italy in the first three quarters; however, their enthusiasm waned in the fourth quarter, and they scored only 10 points, losing the match by 81-67.

Both teams gave tough competition
Gilas Pilipinas suffered a fumble in the last three minutes of their defeat against the Dominican Republic. Clarkson fouled out with 28 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. While Jun Mar Fajardo scored 16 points and seven rebounds. Jordan was the only real source of offense for the Philippines in the entire game. Dwight Ramos also put up a little scoring punch, but it wasn’t enough for them to pull off the win. Although Clarkson was scoring points in the game, he did commit eight turnovers, and some of the mistakes resulted in poor play. He will be looking forward to performing better and playing a more disciplined game against Angola.
On the other hand, Angola was very close to a reversal against Italy as they kept up with the opponent for the first three quarters. The team gave an impressive performance as compared to their previous appearance in the FIBA World Cup.
