Ferguson lost his lightweight bout to Bobby Green on Saturday via third-round technicality submission, and this was his sixth straight loss. This fight took place at Delta Center in Salt Lake City. At the beginning of the fight, there were some promising moments, but action came to a halt when Green poked his opponent’s eye.
Ferguson faced the trolls after the loss
The fight was eventually resumed, and Green started building momentum as time elapsed before ending the fight with only seconds remaining in the final round. After the match, Ferguson faced many trolls, and most of the MMA fans started calling for the 39-year-old to just quit and retire. However, this is not what El Cucuy plans to do. He released a statement on his Instagram handle and stated that the eye gouge cost him a significant settlement, but he did not want the fight to be nullified, So he pushed on through the bout.

In his Instagram post, Ferguson also thanked his wife and fans for all the support, claiming that this is what motivates him to keep trying. He wrote, “Thank you all for being with me through the ups and downs of my favourite sport. I have an eye appointment tomorrow. Some recovery, and then I will be back. I Love you all”.
He will make a comeback soon
Ferguson also made it very clear that this is not the time to retire or leave and stated that instead of walking away, he will meet with his team and the UFC officials to determine the best path for his career. Tony has not picked up a win since June 2019. His last six fights include losses to Bobby Green, Nate Diaz, Michael Chandler, Benil Dariush, Charles Oliveira, and Justin Gaethje.
