Islam Makhachev recently took a dig at Conor McGregor, who has been waiting for a long time now to make his UFC return. According to the lightweight champion, the chances of âThe Notoriousâ returning are quite remote. Talking about McGregor, Makhachev described the chances of his return as âFantasy.âÂ
During an interview with Match TV, Makhachev said, âConorâs return is already a fantasy. He tries to stay afloat with his language. He is more in clubs than in training.âÂ
McGregor is seen partying very oftenÂ
While the âMystic Macâ has teased his comeback several times, he has also been heavily criticized for his party lifestyle outside the Octagon. McGregor has been found partying at several clubs very frequently. The Irishman was even embroiled in a major controversy after he was spotted dancing with a mystery woman at a party in a viral video. This fueled rumors of him cheating on his wife, Dee Devlin. Later, McGregor himself posted an update on the matter, which added more fuel to the fire. Thus, Makhachev has a pretty strong basis to attack the former UFC champion.Â
McGregorâs UFC future is still questionableÂ
McGregorâs last appearance in the UFC octagon remains his UFC 264 match in 2021. âThe Notoriousâ faced Dustin Piorier in that matchup and ended up breaking his ankle with a TKO defeat. Since then, MMA fans have been waiting to see McGregor inside the Octagon again. But they have to wait a little longer now. The Irishman was initially scheduled to face Michael Chandler at the TUF Finale, but complications relating to McGregorâs inclusion in the USADA testing pool hindered McGregorâs comeback. Later, he was again scheduled to face Chandler at UFC 303, but a toe injury postponed that fight too.

Such incidents created a sour mood in the minds of MMA fans and Michael Chandler as well. It seems that âIronâ is also now moving on from this matchup. He has been given a new matchup against Charles Oliveira. However, UFC President Dana White has stated that Conor McGregor will be back next year. If Chandler is available for the matchup by that time, he would be willing to make the match official. It remains to be seen what the future will present for McGregor.Â
