Once the Election Commission has finalized the dates for India’s general elections, the schedule for the IPL 2024 will be confirmed. The IPL is expected to take place between March 22 and the end of May.
The IPL notified franchises about player availability prior to the 2024 auction. If Josh Hazlewood is purchased at the auction, he will only be available starting in the first week of May. He is expecting their first child with his spouse, Cherina Murphy Christian. After being released by RCB, he went up for auction, with a starting price of INR 2 crore (roughly $240,000 USD).
IPL 2024 craze:
It is anticipated that other Australian players up for auction will be available for the whole IPL season. Cricket Australia gives individual players the option to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) or the Sheffield Shield final, which takes place from March 21 to 25.

A statement from the IPL stated in reference to the IPL 2024 auction, “Of the 333 players, 214 are Indians and 119 are overseas players, of whom 2 are from associate nations. There are 116 capped players overall, 215 uncapped players, and 2 associate nation players.”
The list of players with the highest reserve prices for the IPL 2024 auction includes a number of well-known foreign players, including Australian fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, pacer Josh Hazlewood, Indian pacer Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, English bowler Chris Woakes, Josh Inglis, New Zealand bowler Lockie Ferguson, Umesh Yadav, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Adil Rashid, Rassie Van der Dussen, James Vince, Sean Abbott, Jamie Overton, Ben Duckett, and Mustafizur Rahman.
Hardik Pandya’s captaincy:
In the meantime, Hardik Pandya was named captain of the Mumbai Indians team for the 2024 Indian Premier League, marking a historic decision. Rohit Sharma’s ten-year tenure as the Mumbai Indians captain is essentially over with this move.
Hardik returned to the Mumbai Indians and was rewarded with the captaincy after a two-year break. He would be continuing the tradition of the Indian Premier League’s most successful captain. Hardik Pandya is the favourite to win the trophy this year after departing in two disappointing years.
Midway through the 2013 IPL season, Rohit took over as MI’s captain from Ricky Ponting. In the championship game, he led the team to their first-ever victory over Chennai Super Kings. Rohit is the fourth-highest run scorer in the IPL with 6211 runs—3986 of which have come while leading the team—across 157 innings at 129.37 SR with 25 fifty-scores.
After Dhoni (4660 runs) and Kohli (4994 runs), Rohit has amassed the third-highest IPL captaincy total of 4680 runs. Hardik began his IPL career in 2015 with the Mumbai Indians, where he amassed 1476 runs and claimed 42 wickets. Pandya paid INR 10 lakh to join MI as an uncapped player, and he quickly made a name for himself as an important team player, playing in the teams that won championships in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020.
