Fakhar Zaman Helps Ground Staff In India vs. Pakistan Match
Rain forced the cancellation of India and Pakistan’s group stage match, but the Super 4 game has a make-up date scheduled for today, September 11. The Super Four matchup was given an additional day at the last minute after a previous group matchup between the two teams in Pallekele was postponed due to rain. This matchup was the only one to receive the advantage aside from the championship game.
The organizers are in a panic because of the rain in Sri Lanka, which is co-hosting the event with Pakistan. The competition serves as a warm-up for the 2018 ODI World Cup. Rain caused the players to leave the field when Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were still batting, and ground personnel worked diligently to attempt to continue the game after the rain stopped.
The umpires appeared ready to resume play after more than four hours of interruption following three inspections and the assistance of supporters in drying wet spots, but the rain had the last word.
India got off to a flying start with openers Shubman Gill (58) and skipper Rohit Sharma (56). The duo put Pakistan on the back foot with a partnership of 121 off 100 balls.
