The India-Pakistan rivalry is at its height right now because both squads are competing in the Asia Cup 2023. A video of Ex-Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar went viral on social media before the Super 4 game resumed on Monday. Akhtar made several contentious comments and confessions regarding great Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni in the widely shared video.
In the viral video, Akhtar describes how he purposefully attempted to injure Tendulkar in a way that would be fatal. He acknowledged that he also tried the same thing with MS, the World Cup winner. In the video, Shoaib Akhtar said, “Today, I want to make a confession: I truly wanted to hurt Sachin in that game. In that game, I was resolved to do everything it took to harm Sachin. Despite Inzamam-ul-haq’s request for me to bowl in front of the wickets, I persisted”

Akhtar went on to say that he hit Tendulkar’s helmet on purpose without displaying any outward symptoms of regret or remorse. He confessed, “I even believed that Sachin would be dead when I purposefully struck his helmet. The ball struck his forehead, as I discovered when I watched the tape. I then tried to hurt him again. It’s important to note that the viral tape comes from Akhtar’s Sportskeeda interview from 2022.”
It’s important to note that Akhtar discusses the notorious India vs. Pakistan third Test match of the 2006 series in the viral video. The National Stadium in Lahore served as the venue for this match. Notably, Akhtar has previously admitted to planning his fatal deliveries. Shoaib Akhtar already acknowledged to Sports Tak that he purposefully bowled a beamer to MS Dhoni in 2021 during a conversation.
Notably, beamers are not permitted during international cricket matches. The bowler receives a warning for what is seen as an unlawful delivery. It’s important to note that intentional beamer use can result in severe or catastrophic head injuries for hitters or wicketkeepers. However, Akhtar acknowledged his lethal plots to prevent Sachin and Dhoni from advancing his career without showing any sign of sorrow or shame.
