ENG vs NZ 4th ODI: TEAMS PREVIEW
England Preview
Stokesy proved why he is the leader of ‘Bazball-team’ after producing a mind-blowing performance in their last fixture. Stoke cleared all the doubt about his readiness to return to the ODI format after 14 14-month gap from ODIs by producing a class performance. He registered his fourth century of the format in just 76 balls. Stokes didn’t stop there as he continued his onslaught & became the first Englishman with the highest ODI score, notching a breathtaking 182 runs off 124 balls and setting the stage for a resounding victory over the visitors.
On the back of his powering knock, three Lions posted 368 on the board and bowled the Kiwis out for just 187. With Stokesy returning to the ODI format England looks like one of the most formidable teams in the One day format. Dawid Malan, who scored 96 off 95 balls in the previous game is another batter to watch out for in this crucial clash. Then they have Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone in the middle order, who can easily get the better of opponents’ bowlers. Buttler has amassed 513 runs in his last 10 matches at an average of 57 and a strike rate of nearly 110. He is our batter to watch out for in the final ODI.
Jonny Bairstow is taking time to get back into the groove & we hope that he gets back in form for the final ODI. England’s bowling department looks quite settled with the presence of Reece Topley who is their leading wicket-taker in this series, with 5 scalps at an average of 21. Chris Woakes had a good outing in the last match, taking 3-31 in his 8 overs. With Liam Livingstone and Moeen Ali bowling some handy overs of spin in the middle, England have got almost all their bases covered.
England Predicted Playing XI:
Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (c & wk), Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Reece Topley
New Zealand Preview
Chasing a target of 369 runs was a challenging task for the Kiwis as they were reduced to 70-5 in the initial stage of the chase. Glenn Phillips then smashed 72 runs from 76 deliveries, taking the team on his shoulders and forming important partnerships with Rachin Ravindra and Kyle Jamieson. But he couldn’t complete the job for his team as they had a mountain to climb as a result they fell short of the target.
The main issue in Black Caps is their batting order. There have been a few good knocks, but they have mostly been standalone efforts. They need to start delivering as a unit to put pressure on a side like England. In the ongoing series, Daryl Mitchell has been their most consistent batter, notching up 192 runs in 3 matches at an average of 96 and a strike rate of 110. He is followed by opener Devon Conway, who has 134 runs in 3 matches at 67. However, none of their other batters have managed to surpass 100 runs so far. Phillips & Mitchell will continue to play a big role in their fixture against England.
In the bowling order, the team will hope for some good spells from Trent Boult. He is improving with each game & is the leading g wicket-taker of the series for the Black Caps with eight scalps at an average of 11. Boult had figures of 5-51 in the previous ODI when all the other bowlers from his team were pelted for runs. Fast bowler Ben Lister who picked up three wickets while conceding 69 runs in 9 overs could get another chance to prove his prowess when playing in the third ODI.
New Zealand Predicted Playing XI:
Will Young, Devon Conway, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham (c & wk), Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Kyle Jamieson, Lockie Ferguson, Ben Lister, Trent Boult
ENG vs NZ 4th ODI: Pitch & Weather Conditions
Lord’s pitch is a balanced one that favors both batters & bowlers. Fast bowlers can extract moves & bounce in the initial overs. However, the pitch provides some aid to the batters in the middle overs. Batters who settle in can score freely, but spinners may find some assistance as the match progresses. The weather forecast is pleasant & warm with chances of a full-fledged fixture.
Toss: To Bat
Lord’s doesn’t really favor the side batting first or the one chasing. However, with the weather likely to be very warm, the toss-winning team could consider batting first and putting on a healthy total.
ENG vs NZ 4th ODI: Winning prediction
England is currently in its best form whether its batting or bowling lineup is considered. They took time to settle as they haven’t played any ODI since March 2022. However, after the first ODI, they looked back in groove & have ticked all the boxes so far. The form & return of Stokesy is the major positive for the Three Lions. New Zealand on the other hand looked inconsistent as their bowlers looked ineffective which is a concern for them. Considering all factors we predict England to win this clash.
