Fulham has secured the signing of Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal in a landmark deal valued at £34 million ($43.7 million). This transfer sets a new record for Fulham, making Smith Rowe the club’s most expensive acquisition to date.
The 24-year-old offensive midfielder joins Fulham as the club’s second key acquisition of the summer. The team aims to reinvest funds after João Palhinha’s high-profile transfer to Bayern Munich. Ryan Sessegnon, who returned Fulham on a free transfer in July, became the club’s first permanent addition this summer.

Smith Rowe expressed his joy about the transfer, stating, “I’m finally here, so I’m really thrilled for myself and my family—it’s a good time. I’m very excited and just wanted to get here as soon as possible to begin working with my colleagues.
Listening to the project, speaking to the manager, and seeing the players we have here already, I think it’s an exciting project for me and definitely the perfect step for my career going forward.”
Smith Rowe’s journey began at Arsenal’s academy, where he made his debut in the Europa League against Vorskla Poltava in September 2018. Over the years, he established himself as a key player for the Gunners, amassing 115 appearances, scoring 18 goals, and providing 13 assists.
His development included loan spells at Huddersfield Town and RB Leipzig, which helped him mature into the player he is today.
On Friday, Smith Rowe posted a touching goodbye to Arsenal fans on Instagram. “To the Arsenal family, I wasn’t certain where to begin because this is the most difficult message to send to you all.
I was ten years old when I originally signed with this club, and I had no clue I’d go on to make over 100 games and wear the iconic No. 10 for Arsenal.
I’m ready to take on a new task right now; I’m hungry as never before, and I need to give myself the opportunity to move forward. So thank you again, Arsenal family, I’ll always appreciate you.”
Fulham will kick off their Premier League campaign with an away match against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 16. Smith Rowe’s arrival marks a significant step in Fulham’s ambitions for the upcoming season, bringing both experience and youthful energy to the squad.
