It’s been a few months since The Rock last appeared in WWE. He certainly provided some of the best entertainment through his heel character during the WrestleMania 40 season. The Rock also got a lot of hate from the fans for trying to take Cody Rhodes out of his match with Roman Reigns, but when he used the backlash to turn heel and become an interesting heel character in “Final Boss,” the audience loved his work.
During WrestleMania, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson competed in a tag team match with Reigns vs. Rhodes & Seth Rollins, and on the Night 2, he also got chokeslammed by The Undertaker. Since WrestleMania 40 is over, The Rock has been on hiatus to work on a biopic called “The Smashing Machine,” which is based on the life of MMA legend Mark Kerr. Recently, Dwayne took to social media to talk about an injury he suffered during the filming.
The Rock revealed about the injury in an Instagram video
Johnson posted a video on Instagram and revealed that he has been dealing with an injury he suffered while filming The Smashing Machine. The Rock pointed at his swollen elbow and said that it looks like he has cantaloupe. He revealed that he got banged pretty good in the scenes and there might be some soft tissue damage.
The Rock wrote in the caption, “Functional medicine, holistic medicine, modern medicine – I’m an advocate for it all when we get banged up. But don’t sleep on the power of the “healing Teremana hooch” Sunshine & pain Smashing em up soulman.”
The role in the biopic will show a different version of him
The Rock has been one of the biggest stars in Hollywood for years, but after the failure of Black Adam, it seems that fans are fed up with him playing the same type of character over and over again. He needed to try something different, so he signed up to star in A24’s The Smashing Machine, a biopic based on the tumultuous life of former MMA star Mark Kerr. The film is directed by Benny Safdie and will co-star Emily Blunt as Mark Kerr’s wife, Dawn Staples.

Only time will tell how serious his injury is. If it’s a minor injury, he can get back to filming soon. When The Rock returns to WWE, he will potentially have a big match against Cody Rhodes or even Roman Reigns.
