Drew McIntyre and CM Punk are currently involved in one of the biggest feuds in wrestling history. However, it seems their rivalry goes beyond WWE. The two superstars had a rough relationship before Punk returned to WWE. The rivalry was just given a boost in WWE and it worked wonders. “The Scottish Warrior” himself has opened up about his relationship with Punk, commenting on Punk’s WWE return. During a recent interview with PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, McIntyre opened up about his real issues with the Second City Saint.
The Scottish Warrior claims there is a long history
McIntyre revealed that he was quite annoyed with Punk’s return but then added that he also understands the business side of it. “I mean, if I really had a chance to think about it, initially I was quite upset, but I understand the business and I understand why it was done,” said McInytre.
“The Scottish Psychopath” further stated that there is a lot of real history and he has a lot of real feelings. “If I get the opportunity, I know we can tell the most compelling story, because no matter my real feelings, I’m still a professional, you know? He is still a professional, and we have been given the platform to show the world what we can truly do creatively,” said McIntyre.
The two men are set to clash for the third time
McIntyre stated that Triple H knew something wasn’t right between the two and he allowed them to take this creative as far as they can. The rivalry between McIntyre and Punk has become one of the hottest storylines in WWE. The two have been at loggerheads since WrestleMania 40, when Punk cost McIntyre his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship win. Since then, the two have faced each other twice at PLEs– SummerSlam and Bash in Berlin. The two have one victory each and now they are going to face off for the third time at Bad Blood in a Hell in a Cell.
